Security Cameras > Learning Center > DVR Security Camera Systems DVR Security Camera SystemsIn decades past, security surveillance video had to be kept on tapes, which were cumbersome and hard to store. But as technology has improved a new form of video storage has made surveillance video much easier to store and manage. DVR security camera systems use the latest DVR, or digital video recording, technology to store large amounts of video in a small space. This has made video surveillance easier and more affordable for the average consumer. DVR security camera systems can manage several cameras at once, some up to 16 cameras. These images can be displayed singly or simultaneously on a TV monitor or a computer screen. Being able to connect to a home computer also makes the DVR security camera system much more convenient and easy to use for home owners. Other options in DVR security camera systems can include laptop compatible and stand-alone versions. Many DVR security camera systems can incorporate wireless video cameras too, making them easy to install and manage. Most systems are capable of recording audio and video at the same time. Many can also convert images to mpeg-4 format for easy use on the internet. A digital watermark is also available. If a selection of video were to be used in court, the watermark ensures that the video has not been tampered with. |
