View Our Selection Of Motion Detectors

Motion detectors are usually used in conjunction with security devices, such as cameras or lights. When motion detectors sense activity, they automatically activate the device connected to them.
One of the first motion detectors was a tripwire, which still sees use. Tripwires can be connected to anything ranging from alarms to booby traps, such as spikes or nooses.
Current motion detectors measure changes in speed or vector of anything in their field of vision. It is usually accomplished by optical and acoustic detection. This is accomplished using one of three main technologies-passive infrared sensors, ultrasonic pulses or microwaves. Motion detectors may although some digital motion detectors use a complex algorithm to compare the current image with a reference image and note the difference in pixels. Many motion detectors use more than one kind of technology in order to guard against false alarms.
Motion detectors are used to trigger a camera to begin recording, detect unauthorized entry into a home or business and to detect when no movement is occurring, in order to save energy on lights. Many motion detectors have functions that enable motion sensors to ignore small animals and pets.
